Clipping your pets nails!?
Not as simple as it seems....as most of us have probably had to find out the hard way. There is a part of the nail called the "quick". The quick is an area of the nail that has live blood vessels. If that part is cut it can cause perfuse bleeding and pain. Have no fear, as painful as it may be it is common. It is considered a minor injury and should stop bleeding within 20 minutes.
If the bleeding persists longer than 20 minutes, call the vet.
"Your veterinarian will use a product like styptic sticks or Kwik Stop to stop the bleeding quickly. You can find these at most pet supply stores, and it might be a good idea to stock some in your pet’s first aid kit if this happens often in your house." – Princeton Veterinary Hospital
